Individual and Couples Counseling
I am openly committed to the work I do, and the individuals and couples I work with. My style is active and collaborative. I try to understand by listening and asking questions, clarifying whether I’m getting you and your concerns. I believe therapy is a collaborative relationship as a means to helping benefit the person or couple I’m working with. I try to get to know the person I am working with, and where it’s relevant and appropriate, open to letting them know me. I’ve never related to the notion a therapist is paid to hear people’s problems. I don’t pretend to have all my stuff together, or that I’m fully actualized but, like you, striving towards better. All of us experience obstacles particular to us, yet effect our inherent abilities, or how we see ourselves, and relate with others. I approach these and your concerns constructively, while also recognizing your capabilities to realize yourself and what you want. People I’ve work with have often expressed I get their nuances, and that they’re treated as equals working with me.
Bio
Before receiving my Counseling Degree, I received a graduate degree in Creative Writing and taught college course, and salon-styled workshops. I think there are parallels between who we are and, not only in what we do, but our process or style of doing it, if we begin to look, and continue to build upon what we learn. I use interests I’m learning outside of my practice, as examples, and how I might help me understand myself, approach, or recognizing the self growth available in various challenges.
